Opposition Expressed By Telegraph—Press Association HASTINGS, November 20. Strong opposition to the Small Farms Amendment Bill which is to be placed before the House next week was expressed at a meeting of the Hawke’s Bay Provincial Executive of the Farmers’ Union to-day. It was decided to hold a mass meeting of farmers, fruitgrowers and businessmen at Hastings on Saturday when the Dominion Secretary of the Union, Mr A. P. O'Shea, will speak. An appeal from the South Canterbury Executive of the Farmers’ Union for co-operation in a strenuous protest against the adoption of the Small Farms Amendment Bill was received by the Chamber of Commerce at a meeting last night. The matter was referred to the Legislative Committee with power to act.
