Hanlon, of Canada, beat Edward Trickett, of Sydney, by two lengths, in a match for the world’s sculling championship. Hanlon had matters all his own way over the concluding stages. A Sydney message states that despite the general disappointment and the heavy losses which had been sustained, there was universal and firm opinion that Trickett lost the race fairly.
