ACTIVITIES IN TARANAKI Bv Telegraph—Press Association NEW PLYMOUTH, November 5. The activities of the Home Guard were officially bequn in Taranaki tonight with parades at Midhurst. New Plymouth and Egmont village. There were splendid attendances at each centre, showing that strong units will be formed. Other parades will follow shortly and the Guard is making an excellent start. The attendance at New Plymouth exceeded expectations, as recruiting had not been as brisk as in some country centres and heavy rain fell, but there were more than 200 present, providing one company apart from those to be drafted to special unite for emergency precautions training.
