Native subjects in Kenya want aeroplanes “to defend King George’s house,” and the latest cable messages from Nairobi state that the Kiambu Native Council has subscribed £1603 towards the purchase of a fighter and with £10,075 already r t up by the tribes of the central provinces this enables the purchase of at least two fighters. 'The idea -f t’ e purchase of aircraft came spontaneously from the Africans and although warned that their planes might be destroyed on the first flight they replied. “V’e know what may happen, but we" know they will bring. down several enemy planes with them.”
