OBITUARY
MR L. G. HILL By Telegraph me-s- Association DUNEDIN. October 13. The death occurred to-day after a fairly long illness of Mr Leslie Gerald Hill secretary to the Dunedin Jockey Club for the ’ast 131 years. He was a son of Mr Samuel Hill, formerly Government valuer to Taranaki, and was educated at the New Plymouth 3oys' High School. Or. his return irom the war in 1918 he went to Whangarei where he was appointed secretary the local racing club, retaining that position till 1927. when he came to Dunedin. As a youn man he was a prominent footballer and m 1914 played full-back .or the Taranaki team which captured the Ra ifurly Shield from Auckland. He was a member of the Kaituna Bowling Club in Dunedin and also of the St. Clair Golf Club, as well as a member of the executive of the EU.A. He was unmarried.
