TWELFTH V.C. OF WAR
Posthumous Award To Lieutenant United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, October 11. The twelfth Victoria Cross of the war has been awarded posthumously to Lieutenant (acting Captain) E. C. T. Wilson, of the East Surrey Regiment, for conspicuous gallantry in Somaliland. Manning a machine-gun post, Lieutenant Wilson was severely wounded in the left shoulder and right eye, but carried on for three days. On the following day two adjacent machine-gun posts were blown to pieces, but, although Lieutenant Wilson was also suffering from malaria, he continued in action. Finally the post was overrun, and, fighting to the last, Lieutenant Wilson died.
