Annual Meeting Of Golf Club Mixed Foursomes Mixed foursomes followed by the annual meeting official closed the Waimate Golf Club's season on Saturday. The winners of the mixed foursomes were Miss B. Bitchener and D. B. Samways with a score of 71. Other scores were: Miss J. Nalder and A. Laurenson 73, Mrs F. Ruddenklau and T. Waldie 73, Miss M. Owen and L. C. Jones 75, Mrs E. J. Brock and M. Leadbetter 76, Mrs J. J. Healey and D. Macdonald 79, Mrs L. W. Leslie and T. A. Wilson 81, Mrs D. Macdonald and I. Shrader 81. Officers elected at the annual meeting were: President, Mr J. W. Tennant; vice-presidents, Messrs C. G. Holmes and T. E. Parry; club captain. Mr R. C. Morgan; secretary and treasurer. Mr T. A. Wilson; committee. Messrs R. Murchison, S. W. Laurenson. R. T. Stephens, I. H. Shrader and M. Leadbetter; auditor. Mr T. E. Parry; handicappers, Messrs T. A. Wilson and R. C. Morgan. Appreciative reference was made to the work of Messrs Tennant, Morgan and Wilson, who were re-elected to the positions of president, club captain and secretary-treasurer, respectively. Members stated that most of the credit for the satisfactory financial position of the club was due to them. Particular reference was also made to the excellent playing conditions which had obtained throughout the season as the result of the good work done by Mr L. Herriot, the greenkeeper. It was decided to grant him a bonus. It was agreed that subscriptions and the women’s contribution should remain the same as last year. Mr R. W. Maslin was elected a new member. On two occasions during the season, members of the club holed in one. D. L. Macdonald w r as the first to accomplish the feat, and it was repeated at the end of the season by R. C. Morgan, who holed in one at Johnny Walker. ALLEGED ASSAULT Peter Thompson was further remanded for a week at the Oamaru Magistrate’s Court before Mr H. W T . Bundle, S.M., on charges that he assaulted Robert Hair so as to cause him actual bodily harm, and assaulted Frederick Kenny at Omarama on September 28. Senior Sergeant T. I. McGregor. who prosecuted, said that Hair was still in hospital, but he would oe able to appear in Court this week. KUROW FLOWER SHOW The financial results of the Presbyterian Flower Show at Kurow were the best on record. Arrangements were In the hands of Mrs T. McGimpsey. and stalls were organised by Mesdames Shanks, Crooks, McCone, Card. Dickson, Small, Fraser, D. E. Neave and Miss T. McGimpsey. In the evening, there was a short musical programme: Patriotic choruses by Sunday School pupils; humorous sketch by D. Whelan, Olive Smith, Cecily Neave, Shirley Fraser and R. McGimpsey; recitation by C. Blythe; glees by D. Aitken, Mrs Neave, Miss Ellis, Mrs Crooks, Mrs Campbell and Mrs Bly th; pianoforte duet by Misses J. Neave and Cecily Neave. Among the most successful competitors at the show were Mrs McCauley, Mrs Dean, Mrs J. McCaw, Norman Vale. Mrs Crooks. Mrs Shanks, Mrs Walker and Mrs Small. On behalf of the church managers, Mr A. H. Chapman thanked those responsible for organising the fixture.
