RIFLE SHOOTING

TIMARU DEFENCE CLUB The Timaru Defence Rifle Club held its weekly shoot on Saturday afternoon, the conditions being seven shots at 300, 500 and 600 yards. A southerly wind proved very tricky. At 300 yards E. M. Healy and J Green scored 34, and at 500 yards possibles were shot by E. M. Healy. F. R. Cross, W. T. Taylor, E. W. Brehaut, L. G. Smith and J. M. Healy. At 600 yards F. R. Cross was on top with 34, which gave him a total of 102 for the day. E. M. Healy was next with 100. The weekly trophies were won by J. M. Healy, F. R. Cross and H. R. Parker. The tie in the Knowles Cup competition between F. R. Cross and W. T. Taylor was won by the former by 69 points to 65. The final shoot will be fired next Saturday and the presentation of prizes will take place on the range. Saturday’s scores were:
