FAIR AND MILD Special to "The Timaru Herald" WELLINGTON, April 8. Winds—Moderate to fresh winds from a northerly quarter. Weather—Some rain in the ranges, otherwise fair and mild. DOMINION FORECAST General Situation An anti-cyclone centred over the North Island is moving slowly eastward while pressure is falling in the far south with the approach of a disturbance across the South Tasman Sea. Forecast Winds—Light and variable in the Auckland province; elsewhere northerlies prevailing and freshening from the south; a change to westerly probable later in the far south. Seas (New Zealand waters)—Slight to moderate but rising somewhat south of Wanganui and about Cook and Foveaux Straits. Eastern Tasman Sea—Fresh to strong north to west wihds and rather rough seas in the southern portion, elsewhere variable winds and slight seas. Weather—Some scattered rains in the western and far southern districts of the South Island; otherwise fair and milder; some frosts possible tonight in the central portion of the North Island.
