BANDS ON BAY

BURNHAM MILITARY UNIT To-morrow the public of Timaru will have an opportunity of hearing the Burnham Military Band, which te coming to assist the Timaru Bands in their effort to raise funds for the Municipal Band’s contest expenses. This is in appreciation of the part played by the local bands in the raising of funds for their instruments, which the public will see and hear for the first time in Timaru.

The Municipal Band will give their quick-step display at 3 p.m. after which they will play items from the Sound Shell, and opportunity will be taken of massing the Burnham and Municipal Bands is concerted numbers. In the evening the Municipal Band will give a farewell concert in the Theatre Royal when the Mayor (Mr W. G. Tweedy) will bid the band f axe well on behalf of the citizens of Timaru. At this concert both the hymn and test selections will be given. The assisting artists will be Mrs C. T. Ballantyne and Miss Barbara Mclnnes.
