APPEAL FOR CO-OPERATION By Telegraph—Press Absoclatlon WELLINGTON. February 9. After strong reiteration of the fact that the Patriotic Funds Board and its advisory body, the Patriotic Council, are autonomous with full power and control not only over methods of raising funds but also over expenditure, the chairman of the standing committee of the Council (Mr Nirnmo), addressing the Y.M.C.A. Optimists’ Club yesterday, called for the whole-hearted co-operation by members of the Y.M.C.A. to get enthusiastically behind the campaign to raise £lOO,OOO nationally, to be handed to the Patriotic Funds Board to be expended solely for the benefit of troops in New Zealand and overseas.

SPLENDID RESPONSE INITIAL APPEAL IN DUNEDIN By Telegraph—Press Association DUNEDIN, February 9. The initial appeal by the Otago Patriotic Council for funds to supply amenities for the troops overseas met with outstanding success to-day when some 600 or 700 helpers, organised by the Returned Soldiers’ Association conducted a Flag Day appeal which yielded over £ll2O for the Council’s funds.

An appeal conducted at Port Chalmers on Thursday resulted in over £4O being collected.
