MANNING SHERWIN, COMPOSER
His Musical See re of “Sitting Pretty” Manning Sherwin composed the I music for the Firth Shephard musical I comedy, "Sitting Pretty,” recently seen iin London at the Prince’s. He is a I talented American, whose only previ- | ous complete stage show score was for I a small revue in New York in which Robert Montgomery, then unknown, had a part—this was in 1927. After that Mr Sherwin worked almost exclusively in pictures, but welcomed the oportunity for stage work—his first love—in doing the score lor "Sitting Pretty.” Sidney Howard and Arthur Riscoe, fresh from their association in "Wild Oats” tin which they fall heirs ; to a fortune), were again co-starred, this time as two Yorkshire boatmen j who are promised a large sum of , money by an American if they prove capable of holding a job for a period stipulated. Their efforts to comply with the conditions cause all the fun of the piece, the scenes for which ranged from Yorkshire to night club; to Canada, the Arctic, and a tropical island. Mr Sherwin had plenty of background for his musical .score, and completed a creditable piece of work.
