WAIKATO R.C.

HANDIC.APS The following handicaps have been declared for the first day of the Waikato Racing Club’s autumn meeting:—

The Southland pacer Gentleman Jim has come north, and Is now trained by J. Fraser, Jnr., at Addington.

King's Chorus, who is to run in the hack sprints at Gore, has been nominated for the open races at Dunedin. Apparently he is expected to do well in the lower grade. Cross Rose, who Is engaged in the novice races at Gore, is one of the two youngsters sent out from England byMrs M. J. Irving, of Albury. some time ago. A grey, by Ximenes from Rosalie, she is trained by E. J. Ellis.

Bank Stock (Worthy Bond-Love-match), a winner at Tapanui, is reported to be smart, and he is expected to be prominent at Gore. Temple Bar, the other winner at Tapantii, is a bit erratic, but has plenty of speed. He is by Adioo Guy from Miss Adonis, and is a stoutly bred pacer.

W. J. Broughton, who failed in his appeal to the Wellington District Committee against his suspension for two months, has now lodged a further appeal with the Racing Conference, and the case will be heard by the Conference appeal judges on Februaiy 16.

A three-year-old by Foxbridge who shows some claim to distinction is Cornish, who won at Auckland. He Is from the good mare Miss Egypt. Cornish won the Anniversary Handicap at Ellerslie very easily, and has improved rapidly since he lost his maiden status last November. F. Smith apparently has another good potential handicap horse in Cornish, and it will be interesting if he Is given a chance over a middle distance at Rotorua.

My Own (the dam of Yours Truly) which realised only 500 guineas at the Trentham sales, has, along with her filly foal by Tiderace, been resold to Mr J. C. Fletcher, Auckland, who has recently established a stud in the Waikato. It will be remembered that the yearling colt from My Own realised 800 guineas at the National Sales, and, last year another Tiderace colt from this good mare made the top price of 1450 guineas. In addition to My Own. Mr Fletcher now has in his stud four English mares, and these he hopes after the war to add to by further importations.
