NAZI GOVERNMENT DECREE Under a decree recently issued by the Nazi Government German soldiers must not read the Bible or even possess i. Any soldier, sailor or airman who disobeys the new order will be court-martialled. The reason for the decree is that Bible-reading is “not calculated to stimulate the martial spirit,” according to “The Black Corps,” the official organ of the S.S., whtch is run by Gestapo chief Himmler. Even the phrase consecrated by German tradition, “Fur Gott und Vaterland”—For God and Fatherland —is banned. It must be replaced by “Fur Fuehrer und Vaterland.” •
