WEDDING

WELSH—DON St. Columba Church, Fairlie. was prettily decorated with deep creme and pink roses on Saturday for the wedding of Kathleen Ceila, younger daughter of Mr H. Welsh, Fairlie, and Andrew, son of Mr and Mrs W. Don, Sawdon Station. Fairlie. Mrs W. B. Riddle was the organist. The Rev. R. Lapsley, Geraldine, officiated. The bride, who entered the church with her father, wore an oyster coloured lace frock over satin. Simply made the frock featured a plainly cut bodice trimmed back and front with appliqued satin bows. The high crowned long sleeves tapered to points over the hands. The skirt was cut very full. The centre back panel, forming a long train, was trimmed from waist to hem with a trailing design of appliqued satin lilies and leaves. Her long tulle veil forming a second train, was held to the head with a coronet of dwarf Arum lilies and lily of the valley. She carried a sheaf of regal lilies and creme sweet peas.

The bride was attended by three bridesmaids, Miss Lavinia Welsh and Misses Ena and Margaret Don. Their frocks were of creme lace over satin. Made with full-length flared skirts, the tight-fitting bodices featured heart shaped necklines and full puffed sleeves. Their haloes and floral muffs were of cerise pink polyanthus roses. The bridesgroom was attended by Messrs B. Welsh (best man), E. Moyle and T. Horne (groomsmen). Messrs H. Welsh and W. Bray were ushers. The guests were later entertained at the Aorangi Hall. Mr H. Welsh received the guests assisted by Mrs G. Karton, Timaru, an aunt of the bride and Mr and Mrs W. Don.' Mrs Karton wore a frock of paisly patterned morocain with a navy coat and hat. Her shoulder spray was of lemon gladioli and maidenhair fern. Mrs Don vore a smart ensemble of black wool afgaline. The frock, featuring a high neckline, was trimmed with a narrow pleating of lavender georgette on the front and worn under a tailored coat. Her black straw hat was trimmed with a small posy of lavender flowers, and she wore a shoulder spray of lavender gladioli and maidenhair fern. When the happy couple left for the south the bride was wearing a smartly cut costume of Tahiti Rose wool georgette with a self toning striped silk waistcoat, and hat and accessories to match.
