CORRIDOR FOR GERMANY
United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Rec. January 23, 1.14 a.in.) LONDON, January 22. The Budapest correspondent of the “News-Chronicle” says that the truth of reports of movements of German lorries and tanks to East Galicia appears to be that German troops occupied the railway to Roumania along which Russia is handing over a corridor 26 miles wide to Germany. Germany believes that she can put the railway from Roumania in technical order and eliminate Polish sabotage. The Gestapo has replaced the Ogpu throughout southern and east Galicia. German troops are reported also at Nadworna 26 miles from Hungary. General mobilisation under German officers is expectedly shortly. Slovakia and Hungary increased the frontier guards on the Russo-German borders.
The Moscow correspondent of the same journal says that Russia has promised Germany 800,000 tons of oil mostly from the Galician fields.
