Mussolini Seeks Harvest Victory United Press Association— By Electric Telegraph—Copyright ROME, January 21 (Received January 22, 6.30 p.m.) Battle for Italian self-sufficiency will continue in order to assure the people of bread and the means of defence, declared Signor Mussolini in a speech in connection with the national wheatgrowing competition. He described the 19 9 harvest, of 80,000,000 quintals, as most satisfactory. The next harvest would be most important in view of the war, which was of an economic character. "A deficient harvest can be equivalent to a battle lost,” said II Duce. “While the world is upside-down, Italian peasants will give an example of discipline, thinking how to obtain a harvest of 90,000,000 quintals, which would be a victory for the whole nation.”
