NO SACRIFICE TOO GREAT
Stern Days Ahead Of Britain Nazis Know No Law British Official Wireless (Received January 22, 6.30 p.m.) RUGBY, January 21. In a speech during the week-end the First Commissioner of Works (Mr H. Ramsbotham), referring to the war, said: “We must, none of us, underestimate the appalling gravity of our task. There are very stern, terrible days ahead of us. We are confronted by a powerful enemy led by desperate men and inspired by primitive paranoiac. There is no law, human or Divine, which they will observe unless it suits them to do so. There is no consideration of decency or humanity which will appeal to them. They will employ every form of terrorism and cruelty and of bestial savagery to achieve their ends. To defend ourselves and other countries from such barbarians will demand from us immense sacrifices, and no sacrifice can be too great.
