COLLAPSE AT BEACH
FOREMAN BUILDER S DEATH By Telegraph—Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, January 22. Collapsing when entering the water for a bathe at Waikuku Beach yesterday. Horace Davy Luxton. aged 45. died almost immediately. Luxton. who was a returned soldier, was a married man and lived at 6 Mayfair Street. Riccarton. An inquest was opened by the Coroner (Mr E. C. Levvey) this morning, and a post-mortem examination was ordered. The inquest was adjourned sine die. A brother, William Henry Luxton, gave evidence of identification. Luxton, who was a foreman builder, had been working at the Burnham Military Camp recently. He was spending the week-end with his family at Waikuku and went in for a bathe in the sea about mid-day. As the party was entering the water, and while the bathers were still in shallow water. Mrs Luxton noticed her husband floating on his back. He was found to have collapsed, and was carried to the beach. Artificial respiration was not successful, and Luxton did not recover.
