WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
PEEL FOREST On Thursday at Peel Forest a meeting of the Women’s Institute was held, being presided over by Mrs Kerr in the absence of the president. At the commencement of the meeting members stood in silence for a minute in memory of the late Mrs Poppelwell, who was a much loved and greatly respected resident of the district for many years. The roll call for the month was “My Most Embarrassing Moment.” and the golden thread "Tourist Resorts of New Zealand.” was taken by Miss Edyth Reid, who spoke on a “Cruise Through the Marlborough Sounds.” A feature of the afternoon was a talk on “Life in China,” given by Mrs F. H. Wilkinson, of Timaru. Hostesses for the afternoon were: Mrs Inglis. Mrs C. Wooding and Miss Mabel Bevan. The competitions resulted as follows: Plate of Pikelets, Mrs Timpson 1. Mrs Foden 2. Mrs Cain 3; mixed bowl of flowers and foliage, Mrs Reid 1. Mrs Cain 2, Miss M. Foden 3.
