NEW “WORLD WINDOW” SERIES
Co-Producers Return From India
Count and Countess F. F. W. Keller, co-producers of "World Window” films, have returned to London after a 20,000 miles expedition through India shooting Series No. 2 in technicolour, which will be released through United Artists. Remarkable as were the first series, the India shots are said to be supreme for a wealth of colour, spectacle, thrills and unusual incident. The jungle film has wonderful shots of wild animal life, obtained at considerable risk. A fight between a mongoose and a snake was photographed, and the Russel viper which bit one of the crew is shown. There are shots of an elephant drive and an encounter with tigers, both of which were fraught with danger for crew and technicolour camera. The temple film Includes processions of the strangest rituals ever obtained for the screen, while the Indian Roads picture is a kaleidoscope of colour and action, depicting incidents never before shown. The Delhi picture is notable for scenes shot at some wonderful garden fetes, packed with women in saris, and for the scenes in the old and new Delhi.
Still another "World Window” feat is the filming of Benares and the sacred Ganges, which is visited annually by two million people to bathe and "wash away their sins.” Here the remains of the dead are cast into the river, and the people drink the waters and bathe. The expedition obtained many remarkable shots of Yogis who have never before been photographed with such nearness and in such detail. Their practices Include gazing into the sun till they are blind, in honour of their gods; standing on one leg for weeks in meditation; and praying in other strange attitudes.
