HOME NURSING The following members of the Fairlie I Sub-Centre of the Red Cross Society were- successful in the home nursing examinations conducted in December: I Mrs Dorothy Isitt. Mrs Bertha Letham. Mrs Helen Strang, Mrs May Fleming, Mrs Cuthill, Mrs Charlotte Elliot. Misses Alice Hawkins, Marion Macintosh, Lavinia Welsh, Patricia Carney, Lillian Woods, Eileen Jones, Mavis Jones and Margaret Turner. The instructress was Mrs A. J. Glover, N.Z.R.N. and the examiner, Mrs M. H. Pringle, N.Z.R.N. On Tuesday night a lecture on first aid was given members of the Red Cross by Mr F. Styles. At the conclusion of the lecture the president, Mrs G. R. Berney, made a presentation to Mrs Glover on behtlf of the home nursing class in recognition of her work. “PREMIERE” The presentation of a spectacular musical show with armies of beautiful girls who dance very effectively on mirror-like floors is part of the byplay in “Pdemiere,” which will be screened at the De Luxe Theatre, Fairlie. to-night, at 8.15. The real theme of the film is the solution of a murder in a theatre and neither this, nor the obligato of the stage work suffer in a well balanced presentation. John Lodge is a very telling Inspector of Police, whose evening at the theatre is rudely interrupted by the murder. He is supported by Judy Kelly, Joan Marion and Hugh Williams in a picture that is more than worth the price of admission. The supports include the opening of the New Zealand Exhibition. PERSONAL Constable C. Grayburn, of Timaru, is relieving Constable Mackintosh. Constable A. Mackintosh, who is on annual leave, is visiting Wellington.
