Vessel Speeds To Assistance
United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph - Copyright (Received January 16. 11.5 p.m.) SYDNEY, January 16. The Burns Philp liner Merkur ol 5946 tons went ashore off the Northern Territory coast to-day, when bound from Darwin to southern ports. The vessel is carrying a big cargo and has a fairly heavy passenger list. Another vessel has gone to her assistance and should reach the scene this afternoon.
