DOMINION FORECAST General Situation A weak trough of low pressure associated with the recent cyclone lies through Cook Strait, otherwise the situation is developing into one of the westerly type. Forecast Winds—From between north-west and south-west, but with south-west predominating; force strong in some exposed positions in the South Island, otherwise mainly moderate. Seas (New Zealand waters)—Rather rough on parts of the West Coast, moderate elsewhere. Eastern Tasman Sea—Moderate to fresh west to south-west winds and moderate to rather rough seas. Weather—For the most part fair to cloudy, still rather changeable with occasional showers in western districts and isolated showers extending at times across the ranges; moderate temperatures. Geraldine: Yesterday was dull and overcast with occasional showers. For the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. yesterday 77 points of rain were recorded by Mr B. R. Macdonald, “Waitui,” making two inches for the week-end. Fairlie: Yesterday was overcast and mild. There was a heavy shower of rain In the afternoon. Temuka: Yesterday was fair but overcast with a light easterly wind. The maximum temperature was 65 degrees and the minimum 46. The rainfall over the week-end amounted to 3.39 inches. Waimate (for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. yesterday): Barometer, 28.9; thermometer; maximum, 56.1; minimum, 50.0; rain, 88pts; wind gauge, miles run in last 24 hours, 299. Yesterday was overcast and showery in the morning, later becoming sunny and mild. Dunedin: Heavy rain fell early yesterday morning but the clouds were less threatening later. a strong south-west wind was blowing. The barometer was rising in the afternoon at 29.70 inches (1006 millibars). Tire maximum temperature was 57 degrees.
