TROTTING CLUB
Profit On December Meeting Satisfactory Result The Timaru Trotting Club’s December meeting resulted in a profit of £55 according to a statement of receipts and payments placed before a meeting of the committee yesterday. In view of the drop in gate receipts, cars and others items, the result could be considered satisfactory, commented the chairman (Mr E. A. Macdonald). The totalisator account showed a credit of £1202/1/3. The running costs represented a proportion of 1.35 per cent, in contrast to the 2 per cent, under the previous arrangement, said the treasurer (Mr A. B. Annand). No Alteration of Date A letter to the Wyndham Trotting Club advising that the committee could not accede to a request to alter the date of the March meeting, was approved. In reply to an application from the club, the Racecourse Trustees wrote agreeing to the formation of a jogging track 18 feet wide, inside the present training grass track, subject to the approval of the ground committee. It was agreed to instruct the ground committee to go ahead with the work. The Oamaru Trotting Club forwarded a copy of the general conditions of the Oamaru Juvenile Stakes, which they intended to run at their winter meeting, and asked for the approval of the Timaru Club before submitting the proposal to the Trotting Association. The secretary (Mr H. H. Fraser) said that a reply had been sent advising that the Timaru Club saw no reason why the race should not be run successfully. The reply was approved. The resignation of Mr F. J. Cook from the club on his appointment as assistant supervisor of the totalisator was received. New Members The following new members were elected: Messrs C. E. Laurenson, L. Ward. E. Chapman. F. W. Agnew, W. Metcalf, H. S. Ryder, and Westport Coal Coy., Ltd.
