At St. Mary’s Church, Geraldine, on Saturday evening. Bessie Evelyn, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs J. Harris, Arundel, was married to Alexander, second son of Mr and Mrs Mitchelmore, Geraldine. Canon Norris officiated and Mr c. Davies presided at the organ. The church had been decorated by girl friends of the bride. Small buttons trimmed the back of the bodice and the sleeves were gathered high at the shoulder line, light fitting to the wrists and finished with stitched cuffs. A panel inset in the back of the frock formed a long train. Her embroidered tulle veil was held in place by a half-circlet of orange blossom and she carried a sheaf of Christmas lilies. On leaving the church the bride was presented with a horseshoe by her niece Doreen Pithie. Attending the bride was her sister Miss Lucy Harris, who was attired in a frock of pale green taffeta made with full skirt, appliqued with magenta flowers. The bodice was made Victorian style with a heart-shaped neckline and high pleated sleeves. On her hair she wore a spray of magenta flowers and carried a bouquet of sweet peas and carnations. Mr J. Mitchelmore was best man. At the reception Mrs Harris, who received the guests, wore a frock of navy blue figured silk crepe, a navy tailored coat and accessories to tone.
