CHAPMAN-CLELAND

On Saturday at St. John’s Church. Pleasant Point, the marriage took place of Margaret Lucy, second daughter of Mrs Cleland and the late Mr A. J. Cleland, Sutherlands, and Evan Blair, eldest son of Mr and Mrs J. Chapman, Totara Valley. The Rev. Dixon per- • formed the ceremony, while Miss M. Cleland, cousin of the bride, played tne wedding music. The church was beautifully decorated by friends of the bride with pink sweet-peas, roses and delphiniums. During the signing of the register, a solo "My Prayer to You,’ was sung by Mrs Knox Clark. The bride, who was escorted by her brother, Mr L. Cleland, wore a frock of cream beaded cloque. The bodice which had a V-neckline trimmed with a pearl brooch, was gathered into a pointed yoke at the waist. The fully flared skirt fell to a long train and the frock had tight-fitting sleeves, pointed over the hands and buttoned from the elbow to the wrist. The beautifully embroidered tulle veil, which was worn over the face, was arranged with a coronet of orange blossom buds and fell, forming a train. She carried a shower bouquet of cream lilies, sweetpeas and maidenhair fern. The bride was attended by her sister Miss Ellen Cleland, who wore a frock of pink crinkle georgette over pink taffeta. The frock had a fully flared skirt trimmed with a deep pink velvet sash and puff sleeves. The bodice which was shirred down the front, had a heart-shaped neck-line trimmed with pink frilling. She wore a bandeau ol pink flowers and silver leaves in hei hair and carried a bouquet of pink and lemon sweet-peas. Mr W. Hart was best man. while Messrs J. Chapman. S. Cleland and J Cleland acted as ushers. A reception was held in the Towr Hall where the guests were received by Mrs Cleland and Mrs Chapman. Mn Cleland wore a black ensemble relieved with white and carried a bouquet of orange abutilons. Mrs Chapman mother of the bridegroom, wore a wine frock with coat and hat to tone. Shf carried a bouquet of aquilegeas anc rock roses. For travelling the bride wore a flora maroon frock with a striped edge tr edge coat to tone. She wore a browr straw hat with brown accessories anc carried a brown fox stole.
