ADVERTISEMENT FOR THE WEEK

Hollywood Rocks on its Heels The advertisement of the week appeared in the trade press over the signature of Producers Distributors Corporation says a Hollywood correspondent. Following such conventional phrases as “an immense renowned cast” and “characters so sublimely I courageous you can’t help but love | them,” came the announcement that | set even Hollywood rocking on its heels: “ ‘Hitler—Beast of Berlin.’ No War. No Hate. No Propaganda.” Its purpose was to direct attention to B. N. Judell’s film, completed recently with Steffi Duna, Roland Drew and Greta Granstedt. While the language of the advertisement was reassuring, the Hays office has declined to give the film a seal of approval under the Production Code, which means that it cannot be shown in any ot the theatres controlled by the studios. This concerns Judell very little, for he is a State Rights operator and the theatres with | which he does business care not a fig for Hays office approval. The yarn has been adapted from Shepard Traube’s "Goose Step.” a melodrama of revolt against the Nazis. To this has been added an episode bringing the plot down to date with the conquest of Poland. Judell is surprised, and not a little disappointed, because he has received no protest from the German consul. He had rather hoped for objections, as they would do the picture no harm from a publicity standpoint.
