The grand New Year ball will be held in the Makikihi Hall on January The Railways Department in this issue advertises particulars of special train arrangements and fares between Timaru and the racecourse to-day, December 16. The big attraction for lovers of dancing to-night is the Scottish Society’s dance in the Scottish Hall. On Wednesday next there will be held in the Washdyke Hall a presentation and dance to three of the Special Force. The West End Swimming Club will entertain the Otago swimmers at their carnival dance in the West End Hall to-night. Hec Macdonald's orchestra will supply the music. I The list of conducted tours to the Centennial Exhibition. Wellington and to the beauty spots of New Zealand, as advertised in this issue, is decidedly | interesting. The booking for No. 1 tour has already been closed and quite a number have already booked for the tour, commencing in Dunedin on February 15 next. This Is not surprising, in view of the interesting and comprehensive nature of the tours. Mr Thos. Ritchie, who Is organising and personally conducting the tours, stresses the need for early booking for tour No. 3. The party will leave Dunedin on Thursday March 21. the day before Good Friday. Those interested in any of the tours can secure complete itineraries and full details from Mr Thos. Oakey and Co. on Tuesday next commencing at 1 p.m. sharp at 21 Maltby Avenue, under instructions from the trustees of the late Mrs Jane Cairns. Full particulars appear in the auction column of this issue. A clearing sale of superior household furniture and effects will be held on Wednesday next by Morton and Co. Ltd. in their mart at 2 p.m. A full list will be in next Tuesday’s issue. The furniture will be on view on Tuesday afternoon.
