CARNIVAL DATES ALLOCATIONS FOR THE SEASON The allocation of swimming carnivals and dates for the coming season was decided by ballot at a meeting of the South Canterbury Swimming Centre during the week. There will be seven club carnivals in addition to the Centre championships and they will commence during the third week in January, a carnival to be held in each succeeding week. The North End Club submitted a remit that the number of carnivals , usually held in South Canterbury be reduced. It was decided that each of the I seven clubs be allowed to run one carnival and that the question of dates be decided by ballot. The ballot , resulted as follows (the dates being the week within which each club must hold its carnival): January 15-20, Waimate; January 22-27. Fairlie: January 29-February 3. North End; February 5-10, Geraldine; February 12-17, West End: February 19-24. Centre Championships; February 25March 2, South End; March 4-9, Temuka. It was decided to reject the offer of the New Zealand junior and intermediate championships for 1942. It was decided to write a letter of protest to the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association about the allocation of the New Zealand senior championships. It was left to Mr D. J. Shanahan and the secretary to interview Mr E. E. Isaacs about the possibility of a grant to assist South Canterbury in sending swimmers to the junior and intermediate championships.
