Reference to the passing of Mr C. S. Fraser was made by Mr C. W. Wood at the annual meeting of the South Canterbury Industrial Exhibition and Winter Show Association. It was decided to send to Mr H. H. Fraser a letter of sympathy in the death of his father. It was also decided to send a letter of sympathy to Mr J. M. Jenkins, whose father had also passed away.

A motion of sympathy with the relatives of the late Mt C. S. Fraser was carried to silence at the meeting of the Timaru Borough Council last night. In proposing the motion, the Mayor, Mr w. G. Tweedy, said that Mr Fraser had been a very old and highly esteemed resident of Timaru, who ■ had died on Friday at the advanced age of 87 years. Mr Fraser had played a prominent part in the commercial, social and sporting life of Timaru, and he had been one of the rapidly diminishing band of pioneers who had done so much for the community in the early days.
