GERALDINE BOY SCOUTS

SECTION GIVEN FOR DEN Advice that a plot of land would be handed over to the Scouts as a site for a den wa sreceived from the Geraldine Borough Council at a meeting of the Boy Scout Committee. The secretary was asked to write thanking the Council for its generous gift. Mr A. M. Fyfe presided. The list of scout and cub examiners was readjusted and Messrs M. Campbell, E. N. J. Hannah, G. Watts and Miss L. Hawke were asked to examine in gardening, athletics, leather work and music .for the various badges. In his report the scoutmaster (Mr R. Gibson) stated that the strength of the troop was now 33. Hikes had been held and a cricket match arranged. Arrangements were being made by the scouts to hold a social evening. On the ground given by Mrs J. M. H. Tripp, potatoes had been planted and were doing well. A combined scout camp would be held at Raipcliff from December 26 to January 7 and the cost would come from the subscription to the Jamboree, which will not be held. Mr G. Brown was suggested a« wolf cubmaster and Mr C. A. Mayston as assistant scoutmaster, and a nope was expressed by the committee that these men would accept office. The offer of Mr E. E. Scott to supply transport for the troop was accepted with thanks. FIRST AID RESULTS Results of the first aid examination held at Peel Forest have been announced, and the following members of Sister Cowan’s class were successful in gaining first aid certificates: Mesdames Eleanor Barker, Eileen Binnie, Ruby Heney, Annie Timpson, Freda Wooding, Misses Mabel Beaven, Florence Burt, Fern Gillispie, Maureen Heron, Lyla McKenzie, Edyth Reid, and Messrs Lloyd Reid, George Upritchard and Clarence Upritchard.
