Hamlet in Denmark
Miss Fay Compton, who was in New Zealand last year playing in “Victoria Regina.” was in Elsinore, Denmark, last month for a w r eek playing Ophelia to the Hamlet of John Gielgud. Mr Gielgud was playing in Dodie Smith's “Dear Octopus” under the management of H. M. tennent, but was released so that the trip to Denmark could be undertaken. On his return to London he revived “The Importance of Being Earnest,” and prior to that had presented, in association with the Tennent firm, Jack Jones’s “Rhondda Roundabout,” at the London Globe Theatre.
