CHINESE REMANDED
THEFT OF £Bll ALLEGED By fplpffra ph —Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, July 29. A rum of money totalling £3Bl was i involved, said Detective-Sergeant F. Sinclair in the Magistrate's Court today, when two Chinese appeared on charges of theft. The accused were Chang Chew Chong, aged 64. a fruiterer, and Arthur Wong, aged 64, a I market gardener, of Manchester j Street. Detective-Sergeant Sinclair asked for | a remand until August 3, the applica--1 tion being granted by Mr F. F. Reid, i S.M. ' The charge against Chang Chew Chong was that on July 27, at Christ- | church, he stole the sum of £BBl in money, the property of Wong Bros. ' Arthur Wong, alias Wong Foon, alias | Wong Hock Tang, alias Ah Wong, alias , Chang Lee, was charged with breaking ! and entering by night the dwelling of Wong Bros.. 652. Colombo Street, and I committing theft.
