General War Can Be Prevented Statement by Duke of Windsor United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received June 23, 12.35 a.m.) LONDON, June 22. The Duke of Windsor, interviewed by the American Press Association, said: “We have been living in a crisis for 18 months but I firmly believe that nothing is so serious that it cannot be
worked out without war. My only interest is to see that there is no general war which will certainly destroy civilisation.” The Duchess said that they both wished to go to the United States soon.
