His Grace Archbishop Timotheos Evangelinidis, of the Greek Orthodox Church in Australia and all Oceania, will arrive in Wellington to-day by the Awatea.

After 40 years of service in the Railways Department, two prominent officials, Mr A. Urquhart, staff superintendent and general inspector, and Mr A. Clark, district traffic manager at Dunedin, will retire on superannuation to-morrow.

Flight-Lieutenant R. J. Cohen, one of the flying instructors at the Royal New Zealand Air Force Station, Wigram, will leave for England on July 6 to join one of the flights selected to bring out to New Zealand the long range Vickers Wellington bombing aeroplanes ordered by the New Zealand Government.

Mr James E. Lilico, son of Mr James Lilico, of Woodlands, has been appointed inspector of the Whangarei abattoirs, on promotion from the Moerewa freezing works. Mr Lilico received his training at the Makarewa freezing works and was several months at Westfield before he went to Moerewa.

Mr Harold Silverstone, second son of Mr Mark Silverstone, has obtained the Ph.D. degree in statistics at the University of Edinburgh. Dr. Silverstone lias been studying under the former Dunedin student, Dr A. C. Aitken. F.R.S., lecturer in actuarial and statistical matter at Edinburgh University.

Three postal officers who are leaving Timaru were made the recipients of tokens of esteem from their fellow workers yesterday afternoon. Mr J. Armstrong, who has been transferred to Wellington, was presented with a gold wristlet watch suitably engraved, while Mr K. J. Falconer, who has resigned from the Department to take up business on his own account, and Mr J. L. Marr, who has been transferred to the Telegraph Engineers’ branch, Christchurch, each received a fountain pen. The Chief Postmaster (Mr A. L. Willis), made the presentations and referred to the good qualities of the departing officers His remarks were supported by Messrs E. O. Palmer (Senior Postal Supervisor). H. J. Brunt (Supervisor of Postmen), R. F. Worthington (Senior Postman) and G. E. Maxwell.
