DRAMA FESTIVAL
FINALS AT TIMARU At a meeting of drama groups held under the auspices of the South Canterbury Drama League at the Little Playhouse last night, the chairman, Mr A. E. Lawrence, intimated that the New Zealand Drama League national festival finals would be held in Timaru about the third week in October. Mr Lawrence explained that, in response to the invitation of the South Canterbury Drama League, Timaru would be the venue of the national finals. The South Island elimination festival would be held at either Oamaru or Dunedin, where the winning teams from North Canterbury, North Otago, South Canterbury and Dunedin Drama Leagues would compete. Mr Lawrence mentioned that the winner would meet the winner of the two North Island elimination finals, one of which would be held at Palmerston North and the other at a centre yet to be decided upon. The national finals would then be held at Timaru and, as they would take place fairly late in October, they would not interfere with the South Canterbury Drama League’s annual festival.
