Form Maintained At Highfield

Fifteen Play Below Handicaps The phenomenal scoring which has been recorded week after week at Highfleld was maintained on Saturday in a medal round, when again interest was very keen. The links were refreshed after Thursday’s rain and were in splendid order. Fifteen members played below their handicaps. I. W. Cunningham, who has been showing good form, registered his best performance on the course for a gross 74 off eight. He was five over on the way out but came home in 36. one under — a very fine effort. A two at the Dive and a four at Home assisted considerably. Cunningham won the senior trophy with a net 66. Consistent D. Moyes, who qualified first for the Perry Cup returned a 73 off the club playing off a handicap of six. He was only one over going out. J. L. Mackay, who has been on temporary transfer to Wellington signalised his return with a 72. He started off with two fives but soon settled down to be only two over for the round. Mackay has not played much in the capital city and on fits first attempt on his home course for some time showed excellent form. E. A. Scott, D. J. Mcßeath and H. H. Harris each returned gross 75’s. S. A. Shrimpton, W'ho played only about twice last season and who has had little golf this year led the intermediate division with a gross 82 off a handicap of 18. N. S. Hawkes who has several good performances to his credit maintained his consistent run with 80 off the club or a net 66, while G. R. Innes Jones and H. Morgan with 81 and 82 respectively were also well up in the list. The scoring amongst the intermediates was good eight net cards being below 70. The best net card of the day came from the juniors when J. C. McKenzie, playing off 24 returned a gross 66. He covered the first nine in 39. W. I. Tait with a gross 88 off 23 and A. R.
