Seconded for service with the Royal New Zealand Air Force for two years, Flight-Lieutenant J. T. Brown, an engineer officer of the Royal Air Force, arrived from England by the Rimutaka yesterday. He will be stationed at Wigram.
Mr A. E. Lawrence, who lias occupied the position of editor of “The Timaru Herald” for the last 16 years, has relinquished his position with the newspaper. Mr Lawrence has had twenty-eight years editorial experience, having been editor of “The West Coast Times” from 1911 to 1914, editor of “The North Otago Tinies” from 1914 to 1923, and it was in 1923 that he came to Timaru as editor of “The Timaru Herald.” Members of the staff presented Mr Lawrence with a chiming clock as a parting gift.
