CHAIR OF TRANSPORT
ESTABLISHMENT SUGGESTED By Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON, May 31. A suggestion that a Chair of Transportation should be established in the University of New Zealand was made by Mr G. H. Mackley, general manager of Railways, when speaking at Victoria University College. Professor T. Hunter, principal of the college, said if Mr Mackley knew the necessary stipend for such a chair could be found, he would guarantee its appointment in his and Mr Mackley’s lifetime. In making the suggestion, Mr Mackley said transport was entitled to a foremost place for which courses of study were made available by universities. He believed such chairs were by no means uncommon in American universities.
