WINCHESTER
EUCHRE PARTY The first of a series of euchre parties organised by the Womens Institute was well attended. The prizes were won by Miss B. Opie. Mrs J. Scowen, Messrs J. Maudsley and G. McClelland. VICTORIA HALL DANCE There was a very large attendance at the dance held under the auspices of the Victoria Hall committee. The Monte Carlo was won by Miss Phillips and Mr H. Reilly. Miss M. Coffey played extras. Messrs W. J. Jackson. W. Waple and J. Cripps were masters of ceremonies. TENNIS CLUB Hie Winchester Tennis Club closed its season with a Yankee tournament. R. L. Moore and Mrs D. A. Pearce won the winners' section and R. J. Trimen and Mrs H. Washington the losers’ section. HARVEST THANKSGIVING There were large congregations at the Harvest Thanksgiving services on Sunday. The church was appropriately decorated. The Rev. L. A. Barnes conducted the morning service and Mr J. E. Trimen officiated in the evening. Gifts of produce, etc., were sent to the St. Saviour’s Boys' Orphanage. Timaru.
