PREPARATION FOR SHOW The Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage is to be invited to attend the Mackenzie Highland Show on Easter Monday. This decision was reached at a meeting of the show committee on Thursday night. If the Prime Minister is unable to attend he is to be asked to nominate a member of the Cabinet in his stead. Mr J. McKerchar presided at the meeting. The Salvation Army was granted permission to make a collection at the Show. The New Zealand Trotting Association advised that the trotting events which are to be held in conjunction with the show haxi been approved. The offer of a pony for the weight guessing competition was received from Mr J. Stevens. It was decided to erect a temporary shelter to cover the grain and seed exhibits. Present at the meeting were Messrs J. McKerchar, H. A. Munro, W. F. Bourn, D. Fraser, A. W. Pinkerton, G. Pinkerton, A. Freme, W. G. Black, J. Stevens, C. F. Tubb, T. B. Crampton, K. Anderson, H. CYCLING HANDICAPS As a preliminary to the sports which the Fairlie Cycle and Athletic Club will conduct at the Mackenzie Collie Trials at Burke’s Pass this afternoon, a road cycle race will be held from Fairlie to Burke’s Pass, a distance of 13S miles. Handicaps for the event have been declared as follow— ~W. Willmott, G. Jackson, H. Webb scr; J. Parfitt, L. Carlton, V. Wall, I. Thomson 2min; R. Patton, A. Cain, 23min; K. Smith, M. Saunders, F. PERSONAL Reierence to the death of Mr C. de Galwey, an old and respected member of the Society was made by the president, Mr J. McKerchar at the meeting of the Mackenzie County A. and P. Society on Thursday night. A motion of sympathy with the relatives was passed. “LETTER OF INTRODUCTION” Dramatic situations interspersed with hilarious comedy moments march grandly across the screen in “A Letter of Introduction,” which will be screened at the De Luxe Theatre, Fairlie, to-night. Adolphe Menjou, Andrea Leeds and George Murray provide the drama. The comedy is excellently taken care of by that remarkable pair, Edgar Bergen and Charlie McCarthy. Patrons are advised that all screenings will in future be at 8 p.m. A special supper will be a film of the Australian bush fires.
