BUGLE BAND

INSTRUMENTS AGAIN IN USE A move sponsored by the Mayor (Mr A. W. Buzan) and Mr V. Thomas has resulted in the resuscitation of the Temuka District High School Bugle Band which went out of existence a few years ago. The project was enthusiastically received by the headmaster Mr W. L. Harrison and a band of six has begun practice under the leadership of tne conductor of the Municipal Band, Mr W. Rennie. At least another two players will be needed to bring the Band up to a good playing strength. When the Band went out of existence t.e instruments, which were a gift from the business men of the town, were kept in trust by the headmaster, and yesterday they were added to by a gift of a trumpet by Mr C. D. Hayhurst. It is thought that the Band will form an excellent training ground for the Municipal Band as the art of tongui'.ig which is necessary for bugle playing is also a necessary requisite for brass instruments.
