INTEREST AROUSED IN AMERICA

Plans for Mr Eden’s Visit Nation-wide Broadcast of Speeches “Democracy in Modern World” Showers Of Invitations United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph -Copyright (Received December 9, 7.15 p.m.) NEW YORK, December 9. It was at first feared that the gales which retarded the Aquitania would make impossible the timely arrival of Mr Anthony Eden (ex-Foreign Secretary in Britain) to deliver an address at 10 p.m. to-morrow, but the speeding up of the vessel and arrangements to land him from a Government cutter and rush him under police escort to the Waldorf Astoria, seem likely to assure the scheduled broadcast over the three principal wireless systems of the country. The address, which is entitled "Democracy and the Modern World,” has aroused the greatest expectation. All seats at the dinner totalling 4000, are already sold out and the demands for thousands more, which are pouring in, cannot be filled. While Mr Eden’s stay in America is to be less than a fortnight, he has been overwhelmed with requests to make addresses, confer with public bodies, or visit institutions.
