The position of the Niue Islander in Samoa is the subject of comment in “Samoa Mo Samoa,” a leaflet published in Valmoso, Samoa. It is pointed out that although recruiting of indentured Niue labourers for the plantations of the New Zealand Reparation Estates in Samoa is permitted by the Government, free Nieueans are only allowed to remain for a limited time. “Niueans exceeding their time limits are arrested and imprisoned until the next steamer leaves for Niue,” states the leaflet, at the same time pointing out that Niueans are Polynesian like the Samoans, and would therefore be much more acceptable residents than the Asiatics, who were allowed European status according to law. Tire president of the Mau, and later a deputation of Faipules and other representative Samoans, recently protested against the anomaly to the acting-Administrator, Mr A. C. Turnbull, who promised to give the matter consideration. Rheumatism.—Rumatox is a scientific remedy for rheumatism. Don’t go on suffering with aching, swollen joints.
