A PENNY MYSTERY
In these days it does not take a genius to make a penny disappear, but as this is a trick in which ths ordinary person can make the coin either appear or disappear at will, it will be read and practised with general interest. To the top edges of a tumbler, gum a sheet of paper, and trim it round, and also obtain a paper bag. Having secured the loan of a penny from a member of the company, put it on a /sheet of white paper on the table, place the glass over it, and on the glass the paper bag. Count three, and then with a “Hey, Presto!” lift up the paper bag, and the penny will be invisible. To make it reappear, put on the paper bag again, give another sign, lift up \he glass, and, behold, it has returned!
