DRIVERS’ AWARD
ALLEGED DEFECTS By Telegraph—Press Association AUCKLAND, December 3. As an outcome of representations made by the Drivers’ Federation to the Federation of Labour on matters in the dispute in general and the local body drivers’ award, it is stated that employers in the industry have agreed to meet representatives of both federations for the purpose of discussing the alleged defects in the awards, the conference to be held at Wellington in about a fortnight’s time. It is looked on by drivers in Auckland as yet another attempt to settle the grievances without resorting to direct action. The questions in the dispute arise out of recent awards Issued by the Second Arbitration Court, and relate principally to hours.
