Tire “Daily Telegraph’s” tennis correspondent, Mr Wallis Myers, discussing the proposal to legalise the payment of expenses to competitors in open tournaments, which is being considered by the Lawn Tennis Association, declares that it should not be difficult to agree to a formula whereby a player can be allowed to compete at any sanctioned tournament, receiving such hospitality as the committee is able to arrange. Mr Myers adds that the belief that it might be necessary to make championship tennis a whole-time occupation is fallacious.
