WEDDING
EVANS—WILSON The wedding was celebrated at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Ashburton, of Julia Elizabeth (June), daughter of Mrs Wilson and the late Mr Robert Wilson, of “Glenaray,” Hinds, to Lloyd John, son of Mr and Mrs George Evans, “Blandswood,” Peel Forest. The Rev. Carroll officiated and Miss Watt was organist. During the signing of the register Mrs S. P. Taylor (aunt of the bride) sang a solo. The bride, who was escorted by her brother, Mr Meredith Wilson, wore a trained gown of vellum-tinted lace over satin, cut on simple lines, finished at the high neckline with small sprays of orange blossom and a beautifully embroidered veil. She carried a trailing bouquet of cream roses. The bride was attended by her sisters, Misses Marjorie and Phyllis Wilson, who wore frocks of palest pink lace over satin, with gold clips. They wore pale pink shoulder length veils over coronets of pink and mauve flow’ers and carried bouquets of roses in a deeper shade of pink. Mr John Paterson was best man and Mr Paul Eva’?.s groomsman. Messrs A. Wilson and J. Scott were ushers. At the reception the bride’s mother received the guests wearing a frock of black georgette and a large black hat. She carried" a bouquet of dark red roses. The bridegroom’s mother wore a redingote of navy blue wool georgette over a flowered frock in shades of navy, red and lemon and carried a bouquet of lemon roses. For travelling the bride chose a navy striped worsted* costume, lemon satin blouse, navy halo hat with eye veil and navy accessories and carried a navy tailored coat. She also wore a fur stole, the gift of the bridegroom.
