MINIATURE RIFLES

RAILWAY CLUB The Railway Miniature Rifle Club held their wind-up social on Saturday evening. Proceedings commenced with progressive euchre, the prizes for which were won by Mrs Wells and Mr Hannan. x Immediately following were very popular items by Messrs H. Francis. G. Young, L. Andrews. W. Coleman, and Mrs C. Woollett. These artists captivated the capacity house with their singing and humorous turns, and encores were the order of the night. After supper. Mr J. W. Maloney, president of the club, introduced Mr W. Taylor, president of the Timaru Miniature Rifle Association, who presented the trophies won during the year. Mr Taylor, who received a cordial reception, thanked the Railway Club for the invitation to be present and mentioned the friendly rivalry which existed between the many clubs in the district. He also congratulated the Railway Club on arranging such a successful evening. Dancing was then carried on until midnight, to music played by Mr W. Coleman. Mr L. Andrews and partner were the winners of the Monte Carlo. The floor was controlled by Mr M. J. Fitzharri-s. Prize Winners The following were the trophies won during the year:—Presidents Shield and Cup for club championship, A. J. Fearn; J. Edmond Cup, runner-up to championship. B. A. Kelly; “J. Sparks’’ Challenge Cup and trophy, K. Milne: Mayo-McGlashan Challenge Cup and miniature. A. Adkins; J. W. Maloney Challenge Cup and miniature, A. J. Fearn; H. F. McGregor Challenge Cup, A. J. Ede; R. S. Gribben Challenge Cup and miniature. M. J. Fitzharris; Belfod Mills tophy, No. 1. A. J. Fean: G. Wills’ Cup, J D. Mclntyre; Belford Mills trophy, No. 2. G. Drew; A. Adkins’ trophy, B. Andrews; J. Wilson's trophy, D. Parsons; D. C. Turnbull’s trophy, M. J. Fitzharris.
